Jammu, Mar 11 (KNO): Peoples Conference president Sajad Gani Lone on Tuesday said the budget presented by chief minister Omar Abdullah is parroting “Naya Kashmir” narrative of BJP. As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), speaking on the budget, Lone, who represents Handwara assembly segment, said the budget is parroting “Naya Kashmir” narrative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi “The Prime Minister’s Development Package which was criticised by them has suddenly become transformational. Whatever they (NC) have negated politically in the last five years has been praised in this budget,” he said. Pointing to the NC and the opposition BJP, Lone said, “They (BJP) are praising Modi ji. They (NC) are also praising Modi ji. I don’t know which praise is good.” Omar asked Omar Abdullah to disclose the scheme of funding for fulfilling his election promises, which, he said, will require Rs 60000 crore. “You are talking about Rs 60-65 thousand crore in the next five years. What is the scheme of financing? Where will you raise this money? Tell us where you will get this money. You cannot generate this money unless you have been promised a big package by the Centre,” he said. Sajad said that NC has failed to fulfil its electoral commitments, including 200 free electricity units, one lakh jobs. “There is no mention of free electricity units being restricted to Antyodaya Anna Yojana(AAY) beneficiaries in NC manifesto. The promise was unconditional,” he said. Lone also questioned a six percent increase in asset monetisation. "The budget shows asset monetisation rising from one percent in 2024-25 to seven percent now. What assets are being monetised? This House has a right to know, as seven percent is a massive sum,” he said—(KNO)
